Entry: Whitewashed inn consisting of four 17C cottages; its smart interior featuring polished timbers, a flagged floor and a wood-burning stove. Well-prepared, appealingly presented, tasty dishes; eat in the garden, with a view of the babbling beck. Comfortable, elegant bedrooms.
Entry: This smartly refurbished 16th-century listed inn is the perfect place to start – or finish – a major walk; close to the river Eden, its exterior whitewash gleams. Inside, an earthy colour scheme adds to the warmth, with checked wool at period windows and on old settles, and furniture is mismatched in the best way, and dotted with newspapers and fresh flowers.

Entry: The Kings Head in Ravenstonedale is a pub which holds the Cask Marque Award for serving great quality real ale.
